Alaska

Alaska is the bit of Canada that escaped, finding its way instead into the exciting world of the United States of America. Actually, Alaska had first tried its hand as the easternmost point of Russia but found that they didn't have that stomach for all that cabbage vodka. They persuaded the United States to purchase them from the Russians in 1867 after getting President Jackson drunk. Jackson was impeached for his decision, although he narrowly survived the Senate vote.

Alaska has since survived many attempts to force it to go back to Canada - the Canadians themselves were almost persuaded during the 1970s. However, the Americans have since had a change of heart. The fact that this coincided with the discovery of oil in the state is purely coincidental.

Titmouse

The world's most amusing rodent. Many of them earn a living as topless models.
